1978 PORSCHE 911 911 SC This custom 1978 Porsche 911 SC build makes everyone, and especially the driver smile. You simply won’t find a car with more character and soul, unless you build your own- but you can’t come close to the time and cost savings with this example for sale at this price. This car started as a standard narrow body coupe, and around 10 years ago the build began in the Pacific Northwest with a widebody upgrade in the style of the 930 Turbo LE, included wide steel fenders, boxed rockers, factory turbo tail, front bumper, and a paint job in a Porsche color called Pink Pearl Metallic (you can google “Friendship Porsche” for the only other car I’ve heard of in this paint). The body and paintwork were all done the right way- this car looks factory in that regard, especially when comparing to fiberglass fender cars or those with poor paint and body. Next, the previous owner did a full mechanical restoration with an engine out rebuild completed by the famous John Walker shop in 2019 the engine was removed for a full top-end rebuild. The car is fitted with a Dansk exhaust that gives it a deeper note and some burbles and pops that deliver audible pleasure. Other noteworthy recent items include a Carrera chain tensioner upgrade and new CV boots as well as new rear axle bearings. A clutch adjustment performed earlier in 2020, the starter was replaced by PMB in 2023, and the shifter linkage was adjusted earlier this year. Documentation is included for all of the mechanical work done under the current ownership, and this SC is in strong running order, making a perfect car for someone wanting an Air Cooled 911 without having to set aside $30,000 for the likely need to complete an engine rebuild and mechanical refresh, let alone the body and paint work that would cost another $30,000 or more. The suspension has been upgraded from original, and the car boasts Fuchs wheels that have been finished to match the exterior style, and spacers have been added for a proper stance and fit. Tires are excellent. Wood grain Nardi steering wheel and shifter for style points. The car has around 5k miles since the build was finished, and needs nothing mechanically. One of the only air cooled cars you can buy that won’t leave a puddle of oil! Interior has been replaced with period correct seats, panels, and carpet under previous ownership. It’s all in great condition for its age- no tears, smells, or major signs of wear. The car has been in several car shows and was taken to Luftgekult , and has some custom badging from that event. Lots of other Rennline goodies and mods, such as floor boards, LED bulbs, drilled door handles, and carbon air box cover. Issues/imperfections: some small rock chips from normal driving (nothing you’d see from 10 ft), front lip has scratches from speed bumps or steep approaches, windshield has a crack in passenger car corner that doesn’t affect driver line of sight. Like many 80’s SC’s the electrical wiring has been spliced over the years for sound system upgrades and aux power, and can be glitchy with accessory power at times- I usually just listen to the car!
